Harris Benjamin R. Harris, 83, died at home Monday, Sept. 13, 2010. He was a member of Heavenly Hope Baptist Church, veteran of World War II and a member of the Saltville VFW. He was preceded in death by first wife, Kathleen P. Harris, son, Dale W. Harris, sister, Mabel Sheets, and two brothers, Herman Harris and John Harris. Survivors include wife, Mary Sue Harris; three sons, Benjamin Harris Jr. and wife, Bonnie, of Stuart, Donald W. Harris and wife, Ora, of Abingdon, and Jeff Harris and wife, Gail, of Gibsonville, N.C.; stepchildren, Gail Lewis and husband, Harold, and Dan Eastridge and wife, Melody; one sister, Christine Robinson and husband, Randal, of Meadowview; six brothers, Dan Harris and wife, Mary, of Dixon, Ky., Graham Harris and wife, Norma, of Clay, Ky., Donald Harris and wife, Janice, of Wheatcroft, Ky., Paul Harris and wife, Dorothy, of Antioch, Ill., Curtis Harris and wife, Dorothy, of Hickory, N.C., and Gordon Harris and wife, Janet, of Saltville; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the services. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Elizabeth Cemetery.
