Brenda Gail Blankenship McCoy Brenda Gail Blankenship McCoy, age 60 of Pounding Mill, VA, passed away Wed., Aug. 25, 2010, at the Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, VA, following a brief illness. She was born April 17, 1950 at Paynesville, WV, and was a daughter of Mrs. Fanny Allen Blankenship of Paynesville, WV, and the late Cornelius Blankenship. She was a native of Buchanan County, having lived there till 1977 when she moved to Pounding Mill, VA. Being a loving and caring woman, she worked as a caregiver for the elderly in many families for 18 years. Mrs. McCoy was of the Christian faith and attended Church at the Baptist Valley Assembly of God. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and was a great friend to many people. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one sister, Connie Jean Blankenship Stacy. In addition to her mother, survivors include her loving husband of 42 years, Freddie Lee McCoy; three sons, Edward Lee McCoy and wife, Patty, Jeffery McCoy and wife, Rhonda, and James Keith McCoy, all of Pounding Mill, VA; four sisters, Kathy Blankenship and husband, Edgar, and Bonnie Blankenship and husband, Paul, all of Hurley, VA, Teresa Lester and husband, Glen, of Grundy, VA, and Vickie Lester and husband, Carson, of Rural Retreat, VA; one brother, Eddie Blankenship of Paynesville, WV; three grandsons, Brian Charles McCoy and Dustin Ray McCoy of Hillsville, VA, and Jeffery Tyler McCoy of Jewell Ridge, VA; two step-granddaughters, Amanda Strouth and husband, Barry, and Angela Beth Vance and husband, Derrick, all of Richlands, VA; two step-great-granddaughters, Holly Kaitlin Vance and Madison Hope Strouth; a special friend of 32 years, Mildred Cornwell of Cedar Bluff, VA; several nieces and nephews, other loving family members and many friends. Funeral services for Brenda Gail Blankenship McCoy were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sun., Aug. 29, 2010, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA, with the Rev. Doug Blankenship and Pastor Seth White officiating. Entombment followed at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers were Billy McCoy, Duane McCoy, Daniel McCoy, Rodney Hardin, Heath Hardin, and Scott McCoy. Honorary pallbearers were the Staff of Clinch Valley Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit and Dr. Toeya Piriz. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 - 9 p.m. Sat., Aug. 28, 2010.
