Cecil W. Heldreth, 79, of Wytheville died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at his residence. A private graveside service was held. He was born in Wytheville, son of the late Everett W. and Mary N. Heldreth. He attended Wytheville High School and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Elon College in North Carolina and a master's degree from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He was a retired federal employee. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen M. Heldreth; and two brothers, Joe K. Heldreth and Eddie L. Heldreth. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Heldreth of the home; son, David Heldreth of Wytheville; daughter-in-law, Mimi Heldreth of Wytheville; granddaughter, Lindsey Heldreth of Wytheville; two sisters, Mary Mullen, formerly of Wytheville, and Betty Pedigo of Carolina Beach, N.C. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
