Charlotte Florence Gentry

Gentry Charlotte Florence Pickle Gentry, 84, widow of Delmer Dean Gentry, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, in Francis Marion Manor in Marion. Born Sept. 6, 1926 in Smyth County to the late Brown and Gertrude Day Pickle, she was a member of the First Church of God Chatham Hill Road and also a choir member. She had worked at Harwood Manufacturing for many years until she started working at the Southwestern State Hospital where she retired. She was a charter member of the Marion Life Saving Crew Auxiliary. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Kilby; a son, David Gentry; and a grandson, Chad Scott Doss. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Tom Doss of Marion; four grandchildren, T.R. Doss Jr., Brandyn Doss, Leslie Davidson, and Stacey Miller; one sister, Frances Lester of Glade Spring; one daughter-in-law, Diane Gentry of Marion; three great-grandchildren, Tanner Doss, Brock Davidson and Brandon Miller; several nieces and nephews; her loving family at Francis Marion Manor; and special friends, Margaret Graves and Joyce George. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Neville Mozingo and the Rev. Bill McCollian officiating. Private burial was conducted in Rose Lawn Cemetery. Family received friends Sunday from 2 p.m. until time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
