Charmie Blevins Mann

Mann Charmie Blevins Mann, 96, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at her son's home in Chilhowie. She was born on Oct. 24, 1914 in Washington County. She resided in the Grosses Creek area her entire life. She was a lifetime member of Grosses Creek Baptist Church, where she served as clerk for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. A.A. Blevins and Theodosia Pennington Blevins, her brother, William Basil Blevins, her first husband, Herbert Blevins, and her second husband, Olin J. Mann. Survivors include one son, William (Bill) H.H. Blevins and wife, Shirley Jones Blevins of Chilhowie; one grandson, William Gary Blevins and wife, Cathy, of Chilhowie; her great-grandchildren, William Richard (Ricky) Blevins, Lori Ann Blevins, and Joseph Gary Blevins; one sister, Inez Blevins Gwinn of Marion; special sisters-in-law, Erma Martin and husband, Jack, and Lucy Davenport; brother-in-law, Spencer Moore; her special childhood girlfriend, Cory Teaters Blevins; and several nephews and nieces. Pallbearers were Anthony Ward, Dennis Williams, Danny Ray Williams, Eddie Davidson, Dickie Davenport, Jamie Jones, Jeff Hayton and David Hayton. Honorary pallbearers were V.C. Hopkins, David Bradley, Max Stamper, Mitchell Moser, Danny Henderson, Kenny Lewis, Dr. Gerald Murphy and Ben Ferguson. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14, at Grosses Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. John Pruitt and the Rev. Lloyd Sheets officiating. Interment followed in Grosses Creek Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday afternoon from 1 until 3 p.m. at the church.
