George W. Preston A memorial service for George Willis Preston will be held Saturday, July 17, at 11 a.m. at Corinth Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ed Schaack officiating. After the service, his ashes will be scattered on the farm where he grew up. He was born and raised in Rural Retreat and graduated from Rural Retreat High School and Virginia Tech. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rebekah Preston; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Preston. Survivors include his wife, Dot Preston; a stepdaughter, Kate of Glen Allen; a brother, Charles Preston of Rural Retreat; a sister, Jane Phillippi of Rural Retreat; three nieces, Beth Dunn of Asheboro, N.C., Terri Preston of Roanoke and Rhea Preston of Rural Retreat; several great-nephews; and one great-niece. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is making the announcement.
