Helen Brewer Ring

Ring Helen Brewer Ring, 82, died on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. She was born in Elkhorn, W.Va., on March 30, 1928, to the late William and Nerva Brewer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Barlow; a grandson, David Patrick Ring; and two brothers, Roger Lee Shupe and David Shupe. She had worked as a seamstress in various factories and retired from Food City. She was a member of Grosses Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Ralph Ring; her sons, Paul Ring and wife, Hylton, of Virginia Beach, David Ring of Chilhowie, and Ralph P. Ring and wife, Elena, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; her daughters, Patricia Rajput and husband, Gagan, of Kingston, Tenn., Anna Lisberg and husband, Wayne, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Karen Woods and husband, Don, of Quarryville, Pa.; three sisters, Melba and William Shupe of Chilhowie, Sue Farmer of Chilhowie, and Elizabeth Komives of Bradenton, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, from Bradley's Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie with the Rev. Dennis Eller officiating. Interment will follow in Grosses Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
