James V. Elliott

James V. Elliott James Victor "J.V." Elliott, 83, of Wytheville passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, into the arms of his Lord and Savior. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Ridenhour and Vicar Jason Felici officiating. Interment will be in the Osborne Family Cemetery at Independence. He was born June 25, 1927, in Elk Creek. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in Germany. He was life-long member of I.B.E.W. in Winston-Salem, N.C., for 63 years. He worked in many different states throughout his career having retired in 1993 from the electrical trade. He was a devoted family man who cherished his time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Pittsburgh Pirates fan and loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Wytheville. He was a very loving person who would gladly give his time to all those in need. He was deeply loved by his family and all those who knew him. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by a son, James Alvin Elliott. Survivors included his wife of 65 years, Lou E. Anders Elliott of Wytheville; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Ann and Joe Cavender of Wytheville; two sons and daughter-in-law, Roger M. Elliott of Wytheville, Eddie D. and Donna M. Elliott of Butler, Pa.; a sister and brother-in-law, Shelby and Johnnie Delp of Elk Creek; a brother-in-law, Jack Sells of Troutdale; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. (service time) at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Foundation or Agape Food Pantry Inc. in Wytheville. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
