John W. Catron John W. Catron, 82, of Bastian went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010. Funeral service was held Friday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Bland Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Paul Looney and Dennis Moore officiating. A graveside service was held Saturday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Rosehill Cemetery. He was born May 15, 1928, in Rocky Gap, son of the late Curt and Thelma Catron. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Bastian Church of God. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Nelson of Bluefield, W.Va. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Nell Catron; a daughter and son-in-law, Dee Dee Clark and Steve Clark of Bland; three grandchildren, Jimbo Clark and wife, Amy Clark, Lori Clark and husband, Jason Clark, and Alex Clark, all of Bland; four great-grandchildren, Logan Clark, Ethan Clark, Miah Clark and Sam Clark; a sister, Elsie Spencer of Bluefield; and a brother, Don Nelson of Princeton, W.Va. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice. Highland Bland Funeral Chapel in Bland was in charge of the arrangements.
