Jane Mills Vaught Laura Jane Mills Vaught, 77, of Wytheville died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bob Carbary, Tal Stanley and Timothy McCorbin officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church Cemetery. She was a longtime member of Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church. She was known as "Granny Jane" to her grandchildren and all the other children she cared for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Brady and Rozella Dixon Mills; three sons, Thomas Edgar Vaught, Ronald Wayne Vaught and Furman Dale Vaught; and three brothers, James E. Mills, George David Mills and Jack Dixon Mills. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, George Alexander Vaught of Wytheville; four daughters and sons-in-law, Georgia Jane and Richard Ward of Max Meadows, Debra Lynn and Curt Clemons, Tammy Louise Vaught Brown and Lisa Gail Vaught, all of Wytheville; six sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Lee and Angie Vaught, Gary Douglas and Lisa Vaught, all of Rural Retreat, Robert Geoffrey and Melissa Vaught of Wytheville, Steven Boyd and Rhonda Vaught of Winston-Salem, N.C., Scott Ray Vaught, Tracy Alexander and Gayle Vaught, all of Wytheville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rose Mills Lester of Rural Retreat, Paige Mills and Cephas Dalton of Willis; two daughters-in-law, Vanessa L. Vaught of Roanoke and Deborah Tuggle Vaught of Rural Retreat; three sisters-in-law, Sallie Smith Mills of Baltimore, Md., Florence Safewright Mills and Wanda Catron Vaught, both of Wytheville; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church Building Fund, the American Cancer Society, National Kidney Foundation of the Virginias or the charity of choice. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.

Granny Jane will be greatly missed by our family. She was a wonderful woman who, having babysat our children for the last 12 years, was a huge part of our life. My kids thought of her as a grandmother and we thought of her as a second mom. God bless.
