Louise Padgett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 11, 2010.
Louise M. Padgett Louise Moore Padgett, 92, of Fincastle, formerly of Wytheville, went to her eternal home on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010. She was laid to rest next to her late husband at a graveside service Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Bedford. She was born Oct. 19, 1917, in Rustburg, the oldest child of the late Charlie Daniel and Lutie Kate Reynolds Moore. She married Eldridge Bowen Padgett Sr. of Bedford on July 21, 1941. After several years in Norfolk, they made their home in Wytheville where they were lifelong members of West End United Methodist Church. She spent her life taking care of her children, volunteering with her church, the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society and numerous other charities and served 25 years as a "Pink Lady" at Wythe County Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Survivors included two sisters-in-law, Eva Dudley of Goode and Marie Moore of Concord; a brother-in-law, Harry Kerr of Gladys; numerous nieces and nephews; her children, Carolyn McLaughlin and husband, Barry, of Vidor, Texas, E.B. Padgett Jr. and wife, Lydia, of Roanoke, and Sherri Padgett and husband, David Ware, of Fincastle; grandchildren, Michael Bowen DeLuke of Dallas, Texas, Jennifer Womer and husband, T.J., of Dallas, Texas, Christopher Noah Bowen Padgett and Brenda Hodges of Buchanan; and a new great-grandson, Hudson Alfred Womer of Dallas, Texas. Mother never wanted, nor asked, for anything. So in her memory, please volunteer your time to a worthy cause you believe in, take a senior citizen to lunch, make a contribution to the Alzheimer's Disease Association or to your favorite charity. We love you, Mom! Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bedford was in charge of the arrangements.

Sheri, EB and Carolyn so sorry about your Mom. Louise was a very kind and caring person, I have never forgotten how nice she was to me when I "ran" away from home. Not only did she give me a place to stay but she repaired the lining on my winter coat. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May God bless you and your families.

Sheri, EB and Carolyn so sorry about your Mom. Take comfort in knowing that she was a wonderful lady, I have never forgotten how nice she was to me years ago. When I "ran" away from home she gave me a place to stay and she sewed my winter coat back together. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you today. May God bless you and your families.
