Margaret C. Jones Margaret Carol Jones, 66, of Rural Retreat died on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Wagner officiating. A committal service was held Friday, Jan. 7, at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. She was born July 20, 1944, in Smyth County, daughter of the late Homer Edgar Atwell and the late Edna Virginia Atwell. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Atwell and Doug Atwell. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Jimmy Jones; her children, Ronald Jones and wife, Karen, Kathy Buck and husband, Tim, and Steve Jones, all of Rural Retreat; a granddaughter, Devan Michelle Buck of Rural Retreat; three sisters, Shirley Gragg of Rural Retreat, Nancy Shupe of Asheboro, N.C., and Sharon Cole of Hickory, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Rural Retreat Emergency Services. Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat was in charge of the arrangements.
