Mary Ella Meek

Mary Ella Meek Mary Ella Meek, age 85 of Burke's Garden, VA, died Sat., Dec. 18, 2010, at her home. Born Jan. 10, 1925 in Ceres, VA, she was a daughter of the late George and Virgie Lambert Bumgardner. She was a member of the Burke's Garden Homemakers Club. Mrs. Meek worked side by side with her husband her entire married life. For many years Mrs. Meek and her husband, Marvin Meek, lived in Arizona where he managed a large ranch. She worked as bookkeeper for the ranch for 26 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Marvin Meek; three daughters, Bobbie Meek Brecht of Iowa, Doris Meek of Burke's Garden, VA, and Judy Meek Evstis and husband, Scot, of New Mexico; five sisters; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Memorial services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wed., Dec. 22, 2010 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA, with the Reverend Rodney Lawson officiating.
