Mike Poskas, Jr. Mike Poskas, Jr., age 87 of North Tazewell, VA, died Thurs., Nov. 25, 2010, at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, WV. Born March 29, 1923 in Wilder, VA, he was a son of the late Mike Poskas, Sr. and Myrtle Wilson Poskas. He was a Christian and attended Linkous Chapel of Dry Fork and most recently the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church at Maxwell, VA. Mr. Poskas was a US Navy Veteran of World War, II and received the Presidential Unit Citation. He served on the USS Charles Osborne and the USS Chicago in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Barns Beavers VFW Post # 7136 of Tazewell, VA, and the American Legion Post #31 at Bishop. Mr. Poskas was a retired coal miner, having worked at Bishop 33 years for Consolidation Coal Company. He was a member of the UMWA Local # 6025 at Bishop. Mr. Poskas was founder of Poskas Enterprises at Adria, VA, and was co-owner of Poskas Trucking of Cleveland, VA. He was an avid fisherman, a charter member of Tazewell County Sportsman Club, and enjoyed farming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Poskas. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Trula Cook Poskas; one daughter, June Etta Repass and husband, Marshall, of North Tazewell, VA; five sons, Leon Poskas and wife, Brenda, of Dublin, VA, Ronnie Poskas and wife, Rosemary, of Georgetown, KY, Michael Poskas and wife, Donna, Norman Poskas and wife, Charlotte, all of North Tazewell, VA and Larry Poskas and wife, Sharon, of Tazewell, VA; one sister, Ora Lou Sizemore of Woodbridge, VA; two brothers, John Poskas and wife, Nancy, of Bean Station, TN, and Byrchel Poskas and wife, Mary, of North Tazewell, VA; ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; his special son-in-law, Marshall Repass, whom he loved very much; two special nieces, Barbara Presley and Sue Moore; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Mon., Nov. 29, 2010, at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kelvin Seabolt and Pastor Adam Frye officiating. Entombment followed in Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA, where military graveside rites were conducted by members of the VFW Post # 9864 of Lebanon, VA. Pallbearers were Ray Poskas, Charles Poskas, Mikey Poskas, Stevie Wingo, Gary Glover, Dennis Noel, Carlos Richardson and Gary Nunley.
