Mildred Dempsey

Dempsey Mildred Dempsey, 79, died on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at her home in Chilhowie. She was born in North Carolina to the late James and Nancy Blevins Eller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Survivors include her loving husband, Sherman A. Dempsey Sr. of Chilhowie; one son, Andrew Dempsey and wife, Barbara, of Marion; two daughters, Brenda Anderson of Marion and Diane Perkins and husband, Kenny, of Stuarts Draft; two grandsons, Junior Perkins and wife, Angie, of Princeton, W.Va., and Greg Perkins and wife, Tammie, of Marion; one granddaughter, Tanya Owens and husband, Mike, of Marion; her great-grandchildren, Emily Perkins, Trae Perkins, Andrew Perkins, Chris Perkins, Amanda Perkins and Rilly Perkins; one brother, Guy Lee Eller of Dublin; two sisters, Juanita Tilson of Marion and Sondra Martin of Marion; and her special friends who were always there for her, Earl and Kathy Lowe and family of Chilhowie and Joyce Edmiston of Marion. A graveside funeral service was conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at West Cemetery in Marion with the Rev. Lundy Finley officiating.
