Norman M. Bond Norman Melvin Bond, 86, of Sylvatus died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010. Funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. at Reese Funeral Chapel with the Revs. R.J. Buttery and James Walker officiating. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery at Cripple Creek. He was born March 12, 1924, in Carroll County, son of the late Roscoe "Shortie" and Deliah Worrell Bond. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ballard "Jack" Bond and Kenneth Cleon Bond; and a sister, Verna Fay Goodson. Survivors include his wife, Hilda Stuart Bond; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil and Nancy Bond of Sylvatus, and James Otis and Arginia Bond of Sylmar, Calif.; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Katherine "Mildred" and John Rakes of Wytheville, Mary Ellen Quesenberry of Hillsville and Judith Ann Sifford of Sylvatus; a brother-in-law, Warren Sifford; and several nieces and nephews. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville was in charge of the arrangements.
