Pauline M. Morehead Pauline Elizabeth Mantz Morehead, 91, of Austinville died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Carrington Place at Wytheville. A graveside service was held Sunday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery in Austinville with the Rev. Cindy E. Privette officiating. She was born Aug. 7, 1919, in Ivanhoe, daughter of the late Edward and Hattie Nixon Mantz. She was a member of the Austinville Baptist Church, Daughters of the Confederacy, the Rebeccas, the Eastern Star and the Austinville Senior Citizens. She and her husband, the late Jennings Donnell "Don" Morehead, established Morehead Funeral Home in Austinville on April 1, 1965. Before this, she was employed by the telephone company in Pulaski and Radford and was a member of the operators' association. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael J. Morehead; a sister, Dorothy Berry; and two brothers, her twin Douglas Mantz and Jimmy Mantz. Surviving are her sons, Mark Jennings Morehead and his wife, Patty, H. Donald Morehead and wife, Patricia, all of Austinville, and Stanley R. Morehead and wife, Patsy, of Strasburg; a daughter, Nancy M. Scott of Wytheville; two grandchildren, Gretchen M. Bell of Towson, Md., and Christopher D. Morehead of Palmyria; and two great-grandchildren, Samuel Bell and Emmaline Bell. Donations in her memory may be made to the Michael J. Morehead Scholarship Fund, c/o Shenandoah Community Foundation, P.O. Box 31, Woodstock, VA 22664. McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg was in charge of the arrangements.

Nancy, It has been so long since we have seen each other. I have so many good memories of our childhood. I have thought of you often. Sorry to here about Pauline. God bless your family. Would love to see you sometime and sit down and chat.

We wish we could be there and will miss Aunt Polly greatly. Joyce was already missing her talks with her. She will leave a great hole in all our hearts. We are praying for you guys and pray God will stay near during your time of mourning.
