Rachel O. Vipperman Rachel Ann Overbay Vipperman, 78, of Rural Retreat died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at her home. Funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Neace officiating. A committal service was held Friday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. She was born July 7, 1932, in Atkins, daughter of the late John Henry and Laura Bell Barnes Overbay. She was a member of the Groseclose First Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Andrew Vipperman; and siblings, Flossie, Frank, Henry, Noah, James, Roy, Talmadge and Irene. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Eva Vipperman of Rural Retreat; two grandchildren, Mary Ann Vipperman of Rural Retreat, and Jason Vipperman and wife, Lisa, of Eighty Four, Pa.; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Wayne Vipperman and Angel Baby #2; a sister, Viola Overbay of Atkins; a brother, Rubin Overbay of Knoxville, Tenn.; special friend, Deborah Simons; and special thanks to Hospice of Southwest Virginia. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat was in charge of the arrangements.
