Retha Sexton Obituary

Retha I. Sexton Retha I. Sexton, 77, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jason McCrady and the Rev. Lance Hitt officiating. Interment will be in West End Cemetery. She was born April 18, 1933, in Max Meadows, daughter of the late William Alexander Spencer Sr. and the late Mary Catherine Arnold Sexton. She was a faithful member of the Vienna Assembly of God where she served as a benevolent factor and was a prayer warrior for many friends and family. She worked early in her life for Thorn Grocery and Kroger until devoting her life to her family. She had a passion for reading, crocheting and seeing her grandchildren succeed in life. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Billy J. Sexton; two sons, Stephen Lee Sexton and Vickie of Kernersville, N.C., William Craig Sexton of Williamstown, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Jessica Sexton, Stephen Sexton and Jonathan Sexton, all of North Carolina, Matt Sexton and Marlee Sexton of Williamstown, W.Va.; two stepgrandchildren, Amanda Bryant and Kristen Bryant of North Carolina; four great-grandchildren, Kailee Sexton, Zachary Weavil, Julianna Barajas and Natalia Bryant; numerous nieces and nephews; and was a loving sister to Madeline Fields, Elizabeth Raines, Anna Caviness and Yvonne and Robert Smith.
