Robert L. Umberger Robert L. "Bob" Umberger, 83, of Wytheville died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010. Funeral service was held Friday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with the Revs. Joe Mack Taylor and Tom Ballard officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a longtime employee of Dunn Motors. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, the Wytheville Kiwanis Club and a longtime member of the Wythe County Rescue Squad. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estle and Agnes Umberger; wife, Margaret Hackler Umberger; and a brother, Randolph Umberger. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Wadi Rahim of Rural Retreat; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Donna Umberger of Wytheville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Dr. Bill McGuire of Pulaski, Rachel and Donald Courtney, JoAnn and Roy Sawyers, all of Wytheville; special friend, Shirley McCormick of Wytheville; grandchildren and spouses, Renee and Greg Hounshell of Wytheville, Lee Anna and Jake Mosberg of Asheville, N.C., Matt and Amanda Umberger, and Sheila Rahim, all of Wytheville; and great-grandchildren, Aidan Hounshell, Merrick Hounshell, Holden Umberger and Mason Umberger. Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
