Russell Eugene Miller Russell Eugene Miller, age 48 of Hiwassee, died Wed., Oct. 20, 2010 in the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born May 9, 1962 in Richlands, and was the son of Betty Baldwin Miller and the late Jack Miller. He was a former employee of Corning, a member of the Heritage Church in Dublin, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Miller, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Lisa H. Miller, and will leave a legacy of three children, Jacob M. Miller of Salem, Jairus C. Miller of Hiwassee, and Hunter S. Miller of Hiwassee. He is also survived by his mother, Betty Baldwin Miller of Raven, VA; his mother-in-law, Joyce H. Hedge of Radford; and three sisters, Becky Harris and her husband Jeff of Marion, VA, Alice Crigger and her husband Claude of Oakwood, VA, and Jackie Thompson and her husband Chuck of Richlands, VA. He is also survived by 4 nieces and 4 nephews, and a host of family and friends. "Russ" encountered a battle with a brain tumor for 1 and one half years, but touched many lives throughout his battle. Funeral services were held Sat., Oct. 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Church with the Rev. Mike Sweeny officiating. Interment followed in Thornspring Cemetery where the V.F.W. Post 1184 conducted military honors. The family received friends Fri. evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the Heritage Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1565, Dublin, VA 24084.
