Hunt Sandy Hunt died on Oct. 17, 2010, in her home. She was born on Oct. 7, 1947 in Saltville. She was preceded in death by her mother, Daphine L. Brooks; her stepfather, Ralph E. Brooks; her father, Johno Jones; and her baby sister, Susan Gaile "Chita" Jones. She is survived by her former husband, lifelong friend and caregiver, Sonny Hunt of Saltville. She is the mother of three children and nine grandchildren: Tommy Hunt and wife, Renee, and their children, Auburn Hunt and Audra Cardwell Hunt; daughter, Susan Hunt Maiden and companion, Curtis Surber, and their children, Tyler Surber and Mayson and Mattie Maiden; and daughter, Devin Hunt Puckett and companion, Hank Griffey, and their children Tayler Puckett, Nikia Shelby and Tyler Griffey. Other family members include two aunts, Carolyn "Baby" Barr and family, Elizabeth Hayden and family; uncle, Tommie Harris and family with special friend and cousin as close as two sisters, Gaile Hunt; half-sister, Brenda Holly, and half-brother, Doug Jones; and a very special friend, Norma Arnold. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Gilbert and Pastor Allen Hunt officiating. The family received friends Tuesday from 6 p.m. until time of the service. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Rose Cemetery with pallbearers being Roger Harris, Tristen Barr, Ronnie Olinger, Curtis Surber, Barry Hunt and Wayne Hunt.
