Sharon Dunford

Dunford Sharon Faune Dunford, 54, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at her home in Chilhowie. She was born in Smyth County to the late Roy and Stella Marie Baldwin Greer and was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael "Humpy" Greer and Ralph Greer. She worked at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie for over 20 years and was a very active participant in the Relay for Life team at Valley Health Care. She did the M.S. walk and walked for the March of Dimes. She was an avid Virginia Tech fan and her favorite saying was "Let's get ready to rumble." Survivors include one stepson, Dale Dunford of Marion; brothers and sisters, Wade Greer of Marion, Ann Kirk of Speedwell, Connie Anderson of Marion, Shelia Hill of Marion, James "Bear" Greer of King George, Ray Greer of Rural Retreat, Kaye White of Mantee, Miss., and Rebecca Dunford of Chilhowie; special friends, Mary Reynolds and Wes Patrick; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and Roger Dunford. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with Barry Romans officiating. The family received friends Sunday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
