VELVA ELLEN WEEKS ROCKVILLE, MD-Velva Ellen Weeks, 70, formerly of Floyd, VA, died on Sunday, September 12, 2010, at her sister's home in Rockville. She was born in Floyd and was the daughter of the late General Jewel and Gazelle Robertson Weeks. She was also predeceased by two brothers, General J. Weeks, Jr. and Richard Weeks, and one niece, Julie Weeks. She retired from Raytheon after 38 years of service. After retirement, she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and League of Women voters She is survived by: her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Aaron Russell of Rockville; three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Clyde and Mary Weeks of Chicago, Il, Carl and Selma Weeks of Fredericksburg, Allen and Katherine Weeks of Floyd and Sheila Weeks of Dedham, MA. She is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews, Donald Weeks (Brenda) of Auburn, ME, Bobby Weeks (Suzy) of Dedham, MA, Mary Czyras (Rich) of Canton, MA, Michael Weeks of Lake Zurich, IL, Donald Weeks and Linda Weeks, both of Chicago, IL, Debbie Boothe (Rick) of Darnestown , MD, John Russell (Marlo) of Severna Park, MD, Greg Russell (Karen) of Laurel, MD, Alvin Weeks(Genia) of Spotsylvania, VA, Arline Parker (Kris) of King George, VA, Derek Weeks (Britney) of Summerville, GA and Sarah Weeks of Glen Allen, VA. Many great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial contributions may be made to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Drive, Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850 or Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, 409 Ridgeview Road NW, Floyd with Rev. Richard Thomas and Rev. Marvin Wade officiating. Interment will follow in Beaver Creek Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday September 16, 2010 at Maberry Funeral Home.
