Virginia Farmer Obituary

Farmer Virginia Cornett Farmer, 91, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at Valley Health Care Center. She was born in Grayson County to the late Floyd A. Cornett and Minnie Bell Cornett and was preceded in death by her husband, Granville Farmer; a brother, Charles Vernon Cornett; two sisters, Louise Greer and Alice Katherine Funk; and two brothers-in-law, Roy P. Greer and George Funk Jr. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Marion and had retired from Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute. Survivors include one brother, Floyd Cornett and wife, Jane, of Wytheville; one sister, Claira Nelson of Merritt Island, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. Mike Teague officiating. Interment followed in Central Cemetery in Grayson County. The family received friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
