Virginia P. Manuel Virginia Crockett Porter Manuel, 90, of Wytheville died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Randy Morris and Shelley Kyle officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Thursday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. at Rosewood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. She was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Wythe County, daughter of the late William Alexander and Iora Spangler Crockett Porter. She was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Harvey Manuel; a sister, Mary Rickey; and a brother, Edsel Porter. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Linda Fariss and Mike of Hillsville, Alana Yates and Harry Joe of Rural Retreat; two sons and their wives, Carson Manuel and Wanda, John Manuel and Sharon, all of Max Meadows; two grandchildren and spouses, Jonathan and Brooke Fariss and Johnnica Manuel; one great-grandchild, Brendon Fariss; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Crockett Family Cemetery, c/o Adair King, 1522 Ridge Ave., Crockett, VA 24323; or the American Cancer Society, c/o Jean K. Lester, 430 W.
