Warne Stanley Stark Warne Stanley Stark died at home on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rae Mullins and the Rev. Laura Plaster officiating, the church where his great-grandfather, John Crowe, served as minister from 1920 - 1925. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. He was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Charleston, W.Va., the son of the late Lucille Warne Stark and Mahre Hawkins Stark. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Stark and his brother, Robert Lee Stark of Charleston. He attended West Virginia University in Morgantown, playing a year of football before entering the Army in World War II. Mr. Stark served in the South Pacific, participating in the invasion of Luzon, Philippines. He graduated from Marshall University with a degree in Biological Science. Mr. Stark's career began in environmental public health with the Hillsborough County Health Department in Tampa, Fla. He was employed by the Hocking County Health Department, Logan, Ohio after which he served with the Ohio Department of Health, Columbus. He retired from the Jefferson County Health Department, Steubenville, Ohio, in the capacity of Administrator. In 1985, he and his wife, Rose Jarina Stark, moved to Wytheville and built a home. He spent the remainder of his life attending St. Paul United Methodist Church and enjoying his friends and family and the quiet, peaceful surroundings of his home.
