Bittner, Patricia - Yellow Springs  
YELLOW SPRINGS — Patricia Bittner of Yellow Springs, Ohio passed away on December 18, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born to the late Victor and Nola Anderson on September 14, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio. Patty worked at Vernay Labs, NCR Corp., Yellow Springs Clinic, FELS Research and retired from Wright State University in 1993. She enjoyed baking, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. Patty is a lifelong member of the Yellow Springs United Methodist Church. She leaves behind her brother Richard Anderson of Granville, Ohio; sister Linda Shook of Yellow Springs, Ohio; daughters Pam (Ron) Simington, Betsy (Mike) Gannon; 4 grandchildren Cari Lairson, Cami Waller, Taylor and Haley Gannon; 5 great grandchildren Paeton, Kinady, and Cameron Waller, Nola and Reece Lairson and many special nieces and nephews; Good friends Patty McAllister and Jean Linkhart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; son Michael Grinnell; sister-in-law Jody Anderson; brother-in-law Buddy Shook. Our family would like to thank the staff of The Friends Care Community and Hospice of Dayton for their loving care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420. A memorial service will be held at the Yellow Springs United Methodist Church 202 South Winter Street, Yellow Springs, Ohio 45387 on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00am.

Carman, Michael - Xenia  
XENIA — Michael J. Carman, 65, of Xenia, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born August 17, 1949, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of W. Robert and Wanda Murrell Carman. He was a member of the Victory Life Christian Center and the Xenia Kiwanis Club. He was employed as a rural mail carrier with the Xenia Post Office, and formerly worked at MARMAC, and retired from Morris Bean & Co. He was a loyal fan of the former Dayton Bombers and a season ticket holder of the Dayton Dragons. He enjoyed many species of birds, and was an avid gardener. Mike's hobbies included planes, trains, automobiles, and motorcycles, and he also enjoyed cooking. Mike loved the Lord and his desire would be for everyone to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. He loved his dog, Buddy, who became his faithful bedside companion. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne (DeWine) Carman, whom he married December 21, 1979, a daughter, Sarah (Tommy) Kitchen, Huber Heights, a son, Joel (Elaine) Carman, Wilmington, a granddaughter, Lucy Kitchen, a sister, Su Carman (Marc Brownell), Xenia, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, December 20, at Victory Life Christian Center, 1862 US Route 68 S., Xenia, with Pastor Ron Stauch officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am Saturday, until service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 325 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH, 45420, in his memory. Corbin, James - Xenia  
XENIA — James M. Corbin, age 73 of Xenia, passed away Sunday December 14, 2014 in Xenia, Ohio. James was born January 3, 1941 in Charleston, West Virginia the son of the late Chester Corbin and Virginia (Rohmiller) Corbin. James is survived by his wife Verna (Weir) Corbin; daughter: Danette Huber (Kevin); sons: James R Corbin (Janette) and Wayne Corbin (Dawn); brothers: John Corbin (Janet) and Greg Corbin (Sheila); grandchildren : Isha Dusseau (Jimmy), Ronald Corbin, Chloe Corbin, and Robert Corbin. James is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and other family members. James was retired from the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Fire Department where he served as fire chief. James was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved camping and all sports. James was a member of the Ohio Valley Bass Masters, a Scout Master and a deacon at the Arrowbrook Baptist Church in Xenia. James loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking them on great adventures. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Arrowbrook Baptist Church 1124 Upper Bellbrook Rd with Pastor Daniel Williams officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday December 18, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc. 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Corson, Frances - Jamestown  
JAMESTOWN — Frances M. Turner Corson, age 78, of Jamestown, Ohio passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Trinity Community in Beavercreek. She was born in Manila, Kentucky on October 16, 1936 the daughter of Martha and Henry Turner. She is survived by her husband, Barry L. Corson; daughter, Mila K. (John) Orford of Bluffton, South Carolina; son, Glenn C. Corson of Xenia; grandson: Ryan Orford of Bluffton, SC; brother, Donald C. (Delberta) Turner of Lancaster, OH; sister-in-law: Roberta Turner; several nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers: Henry W. Turner and Charles M. Turner. She was a graduate of Wayne High School in Good Hope, OH. She earned a degree in Education from Ohio University and a Masters Degree in Education in the field of Library and Communication Science from Wright State University. She was in education for over 30 years having taught in three different school districts during her career: Columbus City Schools, Greenfield and Xenia Community Schools. She completed her career as the Librarian at Xenia High School. She was active in many organizations in the communities in which she lived. Her interests were many. She enjoyed music, theater, gardening, fishing, camping, sewing, quilting, ceramics, painting, animals, traveling and books. Most of all, she enjoyed her family, her friends, and working with the parents and students of all ages. Funeral services will be held 6 PM Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Memorial United Presbyterian Church, 343 W. Ankeney Mill Road, Xenia, with Pastors Kelley Shin and Tom Jewell officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 PM until the time of service at the church. Graveside services will be held Thursday morning in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton, OH. Durnbaugh, Marilyn - Naples  
NAPLES, Fla. — Marilyn R. (Durnbaugh) Bennington, of Greencastle, IN and Bonita Springs, FL, passed away in Naples, FL on December 12 after a lengthy illness. She was born on July 29, 1931 in Dayton, OH to Raymond H. Durnbaugh and Helen M. (Greer) Durnbaugh. They both preceded her in death. A resident of Beavercreek, OH for most of her life, Marilyn was a 1949 graduate of Beavercreek High School. She then attended Bowling Green State University where she received her B.S. in Speech Pathology in 1955. While at BGSU, she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and served as house president her senior year. Marilyn was employed in the Beavercreek City School District as a speech and language pathologist for 37 years and retired from her position in 1999. She enjoyed her career immensely, and her years of diligent work helped many children to overcome their various disabilities. Without question, the profession she chose was her calling. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Eugene Bennington, of Greencastle, IN and Bonita Springs, FL. Also surviving is her son, Greg Bennington and daughter-in-law, Jennifer, of Greenville, IN and grandchildren, Nicholas, Claire and Caroline. Additionally, Marilyn is survived by two brothers, Robert (Betty) Durnbaugh and Jack (Susan) Durnbaugh, both of Beavercreek, OH and numerous nieces and nephews. An avid traveler who took several trips abroad, she also enjoyed books of many kinds and was always passionate about politics and interested in current events. Marilyn was a huge Cincinnati Reds fan and followed UD and OSU basketball intently. Of specific importance to her was her winter home of Bonita Springs, FL and the numerous lasting relationships she forged there. Her many close friends there gave her great comfort, and their generosity and kindness toward her in her final years will never be forgotten. In particular, her family would like to recognize her wonderful neighbors at Spanish Wells Country Club and her friends from St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Bonita Springs. Her family will receive friends from 4pm-8pm on Thursday, December 18 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday, December 19 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 West Dixon Avenue, Oakwood, OH, with The Rev. Gregory P. Sammons and The Rev. Canon John F. Koepke, III, officiating. Burial will occur at the Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery in Beavercreek immediately following the church service. There will also be a Memorial Mass held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Bonita Springs, FL at 11:00am on December 31 with The Rev. Dr. Michael Rowe officiating. Fox, Sue - Beavercreek  
BEAVERCREEK — Sue Ann Fox, age 56, a Spanish teacher at Beavercreek High School, passed away on Thursday, December 11. Miss Fox taught at the high school for 19 years. She was a 1976 BHS graduate. Miss Fox attended Wright State University where she earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Modern Languages – Spanish with a certification to teach and in History. She graduated Summa Cum Laude as a Modern Languages Honor Scholar. She earned her Master's Degree from WSU in Humanities in December 1987. She was awarded the Modern Languages Department Outstanding Alumnus Award in 2008. After retiring from teaching in 2002, she volunteered with a Dayton literary organization where she taught English to Hispanic speaking persons. Visitation is Monday, December 15, at the Tobias Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 350 N. Haas, Michael - Beavercreek  
BEAVERCREEK — Michael Haas, age 59 of Beavercreek, OH. died unexpectedly Mon. Dec. 15, 2014 in Kettering. He was born in Xenia, OH. on Jan. 15, 1955 to William and Cleo (Godfrey) Haas. He was a graduate of Fairborn Park Hills High School, B.S from Wright State University, M.E.E.E. from the University of Utah and Ph.D. from University of Southhampton, England. He had worked, as a federal employee for the Dept. of Defense at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for over 30 years, most recently as a professor at the Air Force Institute of Technology. He had also been an adjunct professor at Wright State University for many years. Throughout his career, Michael was awarded several patents, and published numerous scientific and engineering reports. Michael was a licensed professional engineer (E-71894), a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a member of the Association of Computing Machinery. Michael is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia Haas, Beavercreek, OH., son, Jonathan Haas, Madison, WI., mother-in-law, Anita Deleranko, Fairborn, OH., brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Jean Deleranko, W. Alexandria, OH., David and Cheryl Deleranko, Flower Mound, TX., Florence Deleranko and her husband, Greg Garetson, Seattle, WA., and John Clark, Fairborn, OH., nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janine Clark. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Sat. Dec. 20, 2014 at Salem Lutheran Church, West Alexandria, OH. with Rev. Heim, Shelly - Jamestown  
JAMESTOWN — Shelly (Kepler) Heim , of Jamestown, Ohio passed away peacefully December 10th, 2014 to be with the Lord. Shelly was born May 21, 1963 to Arlene (Bradds) Wood and Tom Kepler in Xenia, Ohio. Shelly was a 1981 graduate of Greeneview High School. Early on Shelly worked at the Grasshopper Whistlestop Restaurant in Jamestown. Shelly went on to co-own and operate the Mane Exchange Hair Salon in Beavercreek. Later , Shelly graduated from the Clark State Nursing program. She was currently working as a R.N. in Cardiac Rehab at Greene Memorial Hospital. Shelly enjoyed cooking, reading, playing board games and card games, outdoor time including gardening, swimming, and always looked forward to fair week. She also anticipated her annual trip to Hilton Head spending time on the beach coast and meeting up with her Island family. Shelly cherished time with her family and friends, had a passion for the holidays especially Christmas. She was a member of the St. Brigid Church. Shelly is preceded in death by her father Tom and sister Beth. Shelly is survived by her husband Randy, children: Emily (Everardo) Ascencio, Nick Heim, along with Derek (Regina) Heim, Kristi (Mike) Miller, Travis (Angie) Heim. Grandchildren Megan Harp, Carson and Owen Miller, Zach Heim, Yolanda and Lucas Ascencio. Mother Arlene (Ron) Wood, stepmother Joanne Kepler, grandmother Sena (Lyons) Kepler; brothers Todd Kepler (Dirk Kreutzer), Christopher (Luisa) Kepler along with Pam Carr, Kim (Dave) Phares. Nieces and nephews include Maria (Andrew) Harris, Elizabeth, Genevieve, Michael Kepler, Rafael Kepler along with Natalynne (Blaze) Baker, and Jason and Bradley Phares. A viewing will be held Sunday December 14, 2014 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the McColaugh Funeral Home Inc. 826 N. Detroit St. Xenia, Ohio 45385. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday December 15, 2014 at the funeral home. Shelly will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery Bowersville, Ohio. Hudson, James - Xenia  
XENIA — James H. Hudson, age 75 of Xenia, departed his life peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born September 14, 1939 in Olney, Illinois the son of Frank and Frances E. Hudson. James retired after 30 years of services from Truck and Bus Assembly Plant of General Motors in Moraine. He was known by most as "Can Man" always finding ways to help the less fortunate during the holidays. He is proceeded in death by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth "Ann" Keisling and his parents. James is survived by three children, Shiela (Patrick) Woolard of Dayton, James (Beth) Hudson of West Carrollton, and Susan (Thomas) Shaw of Xenia; a brother, Robert Hudson of Sun City, Arizona; two sisters, Patricia Thomas of West Carrollton and Lynn Jones of Phoenix, Arizona; numerous grandchildren, Jennifer, Timothy, Robert, Kimberly, Frank, Adam, Natasha, and Bryant; step-grandchildren, Angie, Amanda, Arin, Kenny, Michelle, Amber, Zach, and Billy; and great grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Wesley, Caleb, Hayden, Eric, Logan, Kayden, Adalynn, Parker, Bella, Brady, and Gemma. Funeral Service will be held Friday December 19, 2014 at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432).
