KETTERING — Charles Paul Thoerner, 81, of Kettering, Oh. Born July 2, 1933 in Covington, KY, died peacefully at home on February 24, 2015. A loving husband of 61 years to Patricia Ann Perkins Thoerner. Paul is survived by his children Chuck & Anita Thoerner of Cincinnati, David & Cindee Thoerner of Huber Heights, Carolyn & Tony Dean of Apex, NC and John & Donna Thoerner of West Salem, OH; Paul's grandchildren Charles B. Thoerner of Fort Worth, TX, Janice & Christopher Jones, Cheryl Thoerner, Amber & Benjamin Thoerner, Dulcie and Joe O'Conner all of Cincinnati OH, Ashley Thoerner, Nicole Thoerner of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Amelia & Cramer Davey of Apex, NC, Robert Thoerner of West Salem, OH, David and Elizabeth Dean of Fuquay–Varina, NC, Anthony Henderson, USMC, Jodie & Kyle Henderson, US Navy, Kevin Henderson USMC and 4 great grandchildren. Paul is preceded in death by his daughter Theresa Thoerner, grandson Michael Thoerner, his parents John Bernard & Caroline Rauen Thoerner and brother Tony & Margie Thoerner of Covington, KY. Paul served with the 80th Antiaircraft Artillery Group with the US Army in Staten Island, NY. As a co-op student at Ohio Mechanics Institute (UC), Paul began his 40 year career in the engineering department at Delco Products/General Motors, retiring in 1992. After retiring he worked for the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Parks Department as maintenance director, and along with his wife were honored as Citizens of the Year. Paul's service to the community included 23 years with the Boy Scouts, a proud supporter of the arts with 22 years volunteering at Victoria Theatre Association, served 2 terms on the Board of Directors of Toward Independence, 12 years as a member of the Board of Directors at Habitat for Humanity of Green County, participated in homebuilding throughout all the years and enjoyed being a part of the "HfHGC Wednesday's Old Man's Crew"! Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 N. Fairfield Rd, Beavercreek, OH on Friday February 27, 2015 at 11 am with Fr. Terry Schneider, celebrant. Friends may call at the church from 10am until the time of mass on Friday. Interment will be held privately in Bellbrook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45402 or the charity of your choice. Thompson, Mildred - Fairborn  
FAIRBORN — Mildred Evelyn (Rostofer) Thompson, 94 passed away Feb 22, 2015 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born September 27 1920 to the late Emory and Lena Belle (Horner) Rostofer in Huntsville Ohio. Mildred grew up in the Lakeview Ohio Area and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1938. Mildred headed for Columbus Ohio to attend Business College. She went on to work downtown at Dun & Bradstreet. Mildred married in 1951 and relocated to Fairborn in 1957. Mildred was full of life. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and cross-stitch and was an avid bowler. She was a long time member of the Women's International Bowling Congress (WIBC). She also enjoyed volunteering with the American Red Cross in the school clinic and Girl Scouts. Most of all, she enjoyed shopping and spending time with family and friends. She was "Grandma Millie" to her grandchildren and "Aunt Bee" to her nieces and Nephews. Mildred is preceded in death by her husband Dean Thompson; her parents Emory and Lena (Horner) Rostofer; two sisters Mary Lucille (Rostofer) Huffman and Joan (Rostofer) Longfellow ; two brother in-laws William Huffman and Richard Longfellow; infant brother Emmett Rostofer; and one nephew Robert Longfellow. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Thompson, Fairborn Ohio, Grandson Jonathan Spiller, Dayton Ohio, Granddaughter Jessica Maiorano, Huber Heights and Great Granddaughter Jordyn. Nieces and Nephew; Lynda (Huffman) Jackson, Charles (Janalou) Longfellow and Nancy (Ron) Leonard. Also great nieces and nephews Maridean, David, Bonnie, Amy, Erin and Jonathan. Mildred was a very lovely, sweet lady and adored by many. She will be missed. The family wishes to extend thanks to Hospice of Dayton for the gentle care they provided. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to all of the friends and staff at the Summit of Fairborn. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Hospice of Dayton.
