Betty Jean Devena

XENIA Betty Jean Devena, age 78, of Xenia passed away after a lengthy illness at Hospice of Dayton on Saturday, February 16, 2013. She was born September 3, 1934 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, the youngest daughter of John and Callie Craycraft. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters: Walter T. Craycraft; Mary Beatty; Thelma Calvert; Norvel Craycraft and Effie Fields. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ira Devena; 4 daughters: Beverly (Scott) Stout of Centerville; Jeannie (Rick) Pack of New Lebanon; Peggy (Rick) Becker of Waynesville; and Sue (Doug) Bowman of Miamisburg; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Betty's family would like to express their appreciation to Barbara Devena, her sister-in-law. She was a graduate of Stivers High School in Dayton and retired from Monarch Marking Co. She attended the Church of Christ. Betty enjoyed cooking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and was a very loving wife and mother. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Wednesday, February 20 , 2013 at the McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc., 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Pastor Chuck Forsythe officiating. Interment to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Hillsboro, OH. The family will receive friends 11 AM Wednesday until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
