George R. Snyder

BEAVERCREEK George R. Snyder, age 80 of New Holland, OH, formerly a 40 year resident of Beavercreek, passed away Friday March 8, 2013. He was born May 28, 1932 in Hartleyville, Ohio, the son of the late Earl Dwight and Anna Pearl (Van Horn) Snyder. George served his country in the US Navy during Korea; and was employed for 20 years with NCR and followed with 20 years at Chemineer, retiring in 1995. An avid gardener who loved his family; George was a former member of the First Church of Christ in Fairborn and a current member of Southside Church of Christ in Washington Court House. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Virginia; a daughter, Theda Miller; and two brothers, Richard Snyder and Paul Mingus. He is survived by a son, Dwight (Deborah) Snyder of New Holland; a daughter, Justina (Michael) Francis of Kettering; five grandchildren, Daryl Snyder, Melissa (Shane) Holstein, Dustin (Amanda) Snyder, Jessica Hart, Brittany Hart; a great-granddaughter, Laine Holstein; three sisters, Anna Mae Lane, Donna Jean Stover, Nancy (Dwight) Fitch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 13, 2013 at 5:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Ministers Danny Dodds and Rick Snyder officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service. A private graveside service with military honors will be held by the family. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Odyssey Hospice.
