FAIRBORN — James E. "Jim" West, 78, of Fairborn, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. He was born June 24, 1935, in Kentucky, the son of the late Charles and Edith (Craft) West. Jim retired from Miami Valley Publishing in Fairborn, where he was employed as a supervisor of shipping and receiving. He was a member and served as first Governor of the Fairborn Moose 1068 and was also a member of the AMVETS Post 444 and International Order of the Odd Fellows Mad River Lodge, both of Fairborn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and John. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mickey; three children, James "Doug" (Donna) West, Jeff (Penny) West, Lori (David) Adkins, all of Fairborn; seven grandchildren, Rachel, Mike, Ryan, Kim, Mike, Amanda, Diane; several great-grandchildren; sister, Rita Ensor of Fairborn; and two nieces, Trish and Terrie. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 5, from 6-8 p.m. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 East Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn, where the funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m., with Tom Webb officiating.
