FAIRBORN Julia Marie Copfer, 85, a long-time resident of the Fairborn area, passed away Saturday December 8, 2012 after a year long illness. She was born June 24, 1927 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late Arthur M. and Marion E. (Russell) Betts. While working in Nova Scotia, she met her husband George, and they were married in Merchantville, New Jersey. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 14, 2012. Julia loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her great joy. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, George E. Copfer, Jr. of Fairborn; three sons, Tom and wife Gayle of Clinton, NY, Alan and Steve, both of Fairborn; a sister, Evelyn of Nova Scotia; grandchildren, Anna-Marie and husband Mark Austria, Tommy, Caitlyn, Ryan, Amber, Brandy, Lindsay, Stephanie, Jonathan; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Evalynn, Madelynn, Rylie, Skylar, Colton, and Myleigh. The family will receive friends on Friday December 14, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday December 15, 2012 at 10:00 A.M., Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating.
