Marshall Lee Stills Sr., was born to parents Daniel and Mildred Ella Phoenix Stills on March 26, 1942 in Xenia, OH. His earthly life ceased on Monday, July 8, 2013, as his soul took flight from Hospice of Dayton. Marshall attended Lincoln Elementary and East High School, and graduated from Xenia High School and Central State University, where he received ROTC training. He served in the US Army during the VietNam Conflict. Marshall was united in marriage to Margaret Thomas Stills and to this union three children were born: Teela Lynn; Tyra Lee and Marshall Lee, Jr. The family increased in later years with beloved husbands of Teela, Reginald T. Baxter and to Tyra, Michael W. Robb, Jr. He received much joy from special grandchildren: Korey Landon Stills; Kelli Logan Baxter; and Ariyanna Symone Robb. Marshall was a member of the United African Episcopal Church with Pastor John Freeman, his mentor and good friend. He was active in the Musical Dept. and enjoyed Bible Study and Wednesday meals at the church. He was active in the Xenia YMCA; where many friendships were shared. Marshall loved to sing and was proficient in musical instruments, especially the saxophone and played with several bands. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a nephew and a niece; and his second wife, Sherrie Brown Stills. Marshall enjoyed many family gatherings, where he will be missed by his children, grandchildren, his former wife, and his mother-in-law: Pluma "Mom" Thomas; also by his uncle and aunt, Rev. Leroy and Virginia Stills, a niece, Anauta (Jubarko) Gaines of Oklahoma; great nephew and niece and several cousins and friends. The family is grateful for the excellent care of Marshall given by Greene Memorial Hospital; Hospitality Home East; Kettering Medical Center and Hospice of Dayton. Per Marshall's request, graveside services will be held 3 PM Friday, July 12th at the National Cemetery, Dayton with Pastor John Freeman officiating.
