XENIA Robert Milton Phelps, Sr., age 87, of Xenia, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1925 in Honoraville, Alabama, the son of Irby and Ursie (Kelley) Phelps.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and sisters, and his wife of 50 years, Starrlene Ann Phelps in 2008.
He is survived by his children: Robert (Linda) Phelps, Jr. of Dayton; Timothy (Angela) Phelps of South Webster, OH; Lowell Edward (Kim) Phelps of Manchester, OH; and Donald E. (Paulette) Storer of Xenia; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brother: Earl Phelps, of Alabama; sisters: Bell Graydon and Rebecca Mobley, both of Alabama, and Lillian Bell of Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Milton proudly served his country in the US Army and retired from the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church. He owned and operated Milt's Pest Control, and later, MP Pest Control for over 30 years. He was still active in the business until his recent illness. He had been awarded the distinction of being the oldest active exterminator in the United States and was featured in the Pest Control magazine.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 2221 Harshman Rd. Dayton, with Rev. Bradley Smith officiating. Interment to follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 PM at the McColalugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia.
