Robert O. "Bob" Swinford

FAIRBORN Robert O. "Bob" Swinford, age 94 of Fairborn, passed away Thursday April 11, 2013 in the Kettering Medical Center. He was born in Oakland, Illinois and was a longtime resident of Fairborn. Bob served his country in the United States Army during World War II, primarily in Burtonwood, England; and followed with employment in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB as a configuration control specialist, retiring in 1973 after over 35 years of combined federal service. He volunteered for many years with the Fairborn Fire Department and was a member of the Auxiliary of the Ohio State Patrol in Xenia for nearly 35 years. Bob's memberships include: Michael L. Finnell Lodge #711 F&AM, Antioch Shrine Club, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Fairborn Shrine Club, Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Dignam-Whitmore Post 526, NARFE, and he was a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Dean; a brother; and two sisters. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Roberta; a son, Richard (Tamara) of Yellow Springs; a grandson, Bryan (Sheena) of Fairborn; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday April 15, 2013 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at noon en route to Fairfield Cemetery for a graveside service with military honors, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating.
