YELLOW SPRINGS Ruth S. Gordin, age 95, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Friends Care Center in Yellow Springs. She was born February 8, 1917 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Dustain C. and Maud G. Wagner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth V. Gordin; daughter: Patty Evans; son-in-law: George Peck; daughter-in-law: Ruth Gordin; granddaughter: Melissa Gordin and brothers: Richard and Tom Wagner.
Ruth is survived by children: Connie Peck of Springfield; Steve Gordin of Xenia and Mark (Ann) Gordin of Jamestown; son-in-law: Alvin Evans of Cedarville; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a farmer's wife, and was dedicated to helping her husband and caring for her family. She was a good cook and was an avid reader. She had attended Hillside Church of God in Springfield. When she was unable to attend church, she enjoyed listening to church broadcasts on the radio and television. She and her husband enjoyed spending their winters in Florida.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM Friday, January 4, 2013 at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia with Pastor Jim Riggles officiating. Interment to follow in Grape Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 2 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Ruth's memory.
