Wilma Brayfield

XENIA — Wilma "Doris" (Gilbert) Brayfield was gloriously reunited with her Lord and loving husband "Dale" on March 19, 2014 after a long but courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Doris was raised as a Coal Miner's Daughter during the depression who learned the art of County Cooking and Homemaking at an early age. If you ever wanted to get fed, her house was the place to go. She married the love of her life in 1955 and talked about him daily up till the end. She was a Homemaker, PTO Mom, Secretary, Referee, Chauffer, Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Alvin Dale Brayfield, her parents, William Hagen and Victoria Sorah Gilbert, Brother, James Gilbert, Sister, Trisha Gilbert Hecker and a very special Aunt Geneva (Nev) Rich. She leaves behind a support system and loving family: Melissa (Randall) Elliott, Angela (Angel) Brayfield, Grandson, Christopher Dale Elliott, Great Grandson Jackson Dale, Sister, Betty (Gilbert) Temple, Brother, Hagen Dale Gilbert, Brother-in-law, Gene Brayfield, Sister-in-law, Gladys Beam, Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law: Betty & Johnny Brayfield and Joe & Maxine Merz, Several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Nephews and Great Great Nieces and Nephews. The family would like to thank her "Camping" buddies for taking "Grandma" under your wings, feeding, pampering and keeping her safe for all these years. A heartfelt and special Thank You to Joann Jackson, her in home caregiver, the Staff and Management of the Today Center, Tony Zdybek from the Greene County Counsel on Aging; the Nurses and Staff of Greene Oaks Nursing Home and Vitas Hospices for all your loving support, directions and care that you gave Mom and her family. We would also like to thank our employers for their support and understanding: balanceback, Elmcroft of Xenia, Dalco Electronics and Shriner Builders who without your support for us we could not have taken care of Mom in the way she deserved. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday March 21, 2014 at McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc., 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. James "Pete" Creamer officiating. Friends may call Friday from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Internment to follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
