FAIRBORN — Jess Adkins, age 86 of Fairborn, passed away Thursday March 13, 2014. He was born October 1, 1927 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the son of the late Clarence and Viola (Cordal) Adkins. Jess served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and followed with employment at General Motors, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Dignam-Whitmore Post 526 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 2641, both in Fairborn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ray; and a sister, Ann. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dolores "Toot"; brother-in-law, Donald Sipe of Springfield; lifelong friend, Marie Williams of Fairborn; as well as several nieces, nephews, and close friends. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
