BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Rev. Dr. Richard Miller, age 72, Bloomington, passed on to his heavenly home at 8:56 a.m. on April 17, 2015, at Hospice House. He was born in Xenia, OH, to the late William and Cenia (Greene) Miller. He married Sandi (Bidlack) Miller in November 1972, and she survives. After receiving his Bachelor's degree from Trevecca Nazarene University, Richard completed two Master's degrees (M.Div., from Nazarene Theological Seminary, Kansas City, MO, and M.Phil. from Drew University, Madison, NJ). He earned a Ph.D. in Historical Theology from Drew University. He pastored Nazarene churches in New Jersey and Indiana. In 2010, the Southwest Indiana District Church of the Nazarene honored him with the Eagle Award for his contributions to the district. He loved to prepare his weekly sermons and preach, and he loved his church family. He was a writer, having published many poems and devotional articles. He was an educator, having taught at the high school and college levels. He enjoyed reading and woodworking. A busy pastor, he always made time for his family. In addition to his wife, surviving family members include his daughter, Nicole "Nikki" Miller, his son, Mark Miller, both of Bloomington, IN, and his son from his first marriage, Richard (Jenny) Miller, Jr., of Winter Park, FL. Other survivors include his two sisters, Jane (Paul) Drake, of Xenia, OH, and Gladys (Bill) Fox, of Camp Verde, AZ, and brother, Robert (Karen) Miller, of Roque Bluffs, ME, and many nieces and nephews.
