Bertha Fannin

FAIRBORN — Bertha M. Fannin, age 89 of Fairborn, passed away Monday February 3, 2014. She was born April 3, 1924 in Elliott Co., Kentucky, the daughter of the late James and Della (Lewis) Stephens. Bertha attended Faith Hill Church of God and Fairborn Enterprise Baptist Church. A loving homemaker who cared for her family and friends; she was an avid cook, and enjoyed quilting and sewing. Everyone was invited and enjoyed her family meals after church on Sundays. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Mervel in January of 2013; a sister, Barbara Moore; and two brothers, Addie and Eldon Stephens. She is survived by six children, Lorieda (Carl) Fiffe of Fairborn, Letha Robbins of Fairborn, Mary (Larry) Huttsell of Beavercreek, Gay (Gary) Easterling of Michigan, Phillip (Chelle) Fannin of Fairborn, Debbie Ruiz of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Linville Stephens of Fairborn; four sisters, Ivory Hutchinson of Beavercreek, Beulah Fyffe of Washington C.H., Dixie (Denval) Gilliam of Fairborn, Martha Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Leo) Skaggs of Fairborn; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. A special thank you is extended to Gentiva Hospice and the staff of Liberty Nursing Center in Beavercreek for their loving care. The family will receive friends on Friday February 7, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday February 8, 2014 at 10:00 A.M., Pastor Tooney Easterling, Brother Dan Smith, and Rev. Gary Easterling officiating. Burial will follow in the Byron Cemetery. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Gentiva Hospice.
