CEDARVILLE — Betty (Sickles) Hamman, 87 of Cedarville, Ohio passed away peacefully on April 11, 2014 at the Liberty Nursing Home in Jamestown with her husband by her side. Born March 30, 1927 in Xenia, Ohio to Charles and Zona Sickles. Betty lived in Springfield, and graduated from Enon High School in 1945, and Cedarville College in 1949. She taught in the Cedarville Elementary School System from 1949-1981. She was very dedicated to her job and loved teaching children. She loved shared hobbies with her husband and was always committed, supportive and dedicated to her family. She was very creative in whatever she did. She dearly loved her grandchildren and they dearly loved her. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lamarr Hamman of Cedarville, son Max (Linda) Hamman of Columbus, daughter Marla Everhart of Cedarville, granddaughter Renee (Justin) Kohl of Springfield, grandson Zachary (Zuni) Hamman of Columbus, sister Ruby (Fred) Knecht of Canada, brother Glenn Sickles of Glenford, Ohio, sister-in-law Joan (James) Schlumbohm of Florida, several nieces and nephews and an adorable yorkshire dog, Cheuy. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, sister Maxine, brothers Ronald, Wayne, and Dwight Sickles and a son-in-law, Gary Everhart. Special thanks to Dr. Kevin Sharrett and the Liberty Nursing Home of Jamestown for their excellent care and Jackson Lytle & Lewis Funeral Home for their thoughts and understanding. A private viewing will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the United Presbyterian Church in Cedarville followed by a private burial in North Cemetery, Cedarville. Contributions may be made to the Cedarville Opera House. Betty will be sadly miss be all who knew and loved her.
