YELLOW SPRINGS David Nickell, 62, of Yellow Springs passed away November 7, 2012. He was born April 21, 1950 in Cannel City, Kentucky, the son of Herbert and Jean (Vance) Nickell.
Survivors include his mother, Jean Nickell of Yellow Springs; one son, Christopher (Amy) Nickell of Herriman, Utah; one sister, Linda Richmond of Warwick, New York; three granddaughters, Carissa, Caitlyn and Arabella Nickell; one niece, Andrea Nicole Breslin and many dear aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Nickell; paternal grandparents, Ben and Gertrude Nickell; materal grandparents, Lee Roy and Tela Vance and a granddaughter, Christyna Nickell. David was a very devoted son, loving father and a great brother. He served his country with pride and honor as a U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War. David worked for many years in the area in construction and was a master crafter of concrete. He loved the outdoors, loved old western novels and movies and was one of the best pool shooters in the state and always found a reason to be on the go. Yellow Springs lost a legend and a friend to many in the town he called home. While he has parted from this earth, his free spirit lives on.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 10 AM-12 Noon in the McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc., 826 N. Detroit Street, Xenia, Ohio 45385. Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon in the funeral home with Rev. Charles Hemming officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Forest Cemetery.
