XENIA — Mr. Gerald Neale Kerns, age 92, of Mayfield passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at his residence. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Mayfield, KY and a retired self-employed painter and custodian at the Graves County Courthouse. He was also a US Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Kerns is survived by four sons, Bryant (Kathy) Kerns of Mayfield, KY, Jerry (Robin) Farias of New Salisbury, IN, Kevin (Brenda) Kerns of Kettering, OH and Chris (Kim) Kerns of West Carrollton, OH; one daughter, Ruthie Kerns (Bobby) Wilferd of Mayfield, KY; one brother, David Kerns of Florida; two sisters, Carolyn Murry of Jamestown, OH and Betty Bussell of Paris, KY; fourteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Tynes Kerns; two sons, Gerald N. Kerns, Jr. and Charles "Chuck" Kerns; one sister, Peggy Watkins Faley; three brothers, Clyde Kerns, Bobby Kerns and Jim Kerns; a special friend, Edna McClain; and his parents, Jennings Neal Kerns and Pansy Dorton Watkins. Funeral services for Mr. Gerald Neale Kerns will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at the First Assembly of God Church in Mayfield, KY. Rev. Brad Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryan Kendall, Chase Kendall, Kyle Kendall, Jason Tubbs, David Kerns and Travis Kerns. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Smith, Tony Smith, Phillip McClain, Raymond Bailey, Kerry Green, Jeff Oliver, Jim Wallace, Mike Williams and Greg Smith. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the First Assembly of God Church in Mayfield, KY. Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY is in charge of arrangements.
