FAIRBORN James D. Freier, age 87 of Fairborn, passed away Saturday April 13, 2013 in his residence. He was born May 30, 1925 in Greene County, the son of the late Edward and Maggie (Watts) Freier. Jim served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He followed with employment at General Motors Delco Products, retiring in 1992 after over 40 years of service. His memberships include: 60 year member of Mystic Lodge of Dayton #405 F&AM, Antioch Shrine, Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Past Watchman of White Shrine of Jerusalem #62, Past Patron of Aero Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and American Legion Dignam-Whitmore Post 526. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur; and a sister, Minnie. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Gladys (Reed) Freier; two daughters, Janice Scott and husband Jake of Florida, Anita Freier-O'Neal and husband Timothy of Beavercreek; four grandchildren, Sheldon, Logan, and Ryan O'Neal, Malia Scott; a sister-in-law, Lexie Freier of Fairborn; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. The family will receive friends (Today) Tuesday April 16, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., with a Post Everlasting service at 7:45, in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday April 17, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 8100 W.
