XENIA — James Marple Fannin, age 76, of Xenia, passed from this life Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Hospitality East. Marple was born in Crockett, KY on April 12, 1938. He was the son of John and Lula McDaniel Fannin. He attended Xenia Schools and the Cincinnati Bible Seminary. Marple was an ordained minister in the Church of Christ for almost 30 years, serving churches in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota California, and Oregon. Last year he moved back to the Xenia area from Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Leona Williams and Judy Jones; his brothers: Chester Fannin and Lowell Fannin. He is survived by his wife, Christel Fannin; his children: John (Joni) Fannin of Sunnyside, WA; Martha (Bob) Rost of Corvallis, OR; and Melissa Fannin (Andre Bondes) of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren: Jim, Cliff, Michael and Kellyn Rost; Amari and Arianna Bondes; William Walker (Joss); and great granddaughter: Laia Walker; other survivors include nieces and nephews; Kathy, Robin, Duane, Keith, Sue, John, Sandra, Charlotte, Linda, Terry and the mother of his children: Sharon Mendenhall. Special thanks to his niece Charlotte Lynch and husband, Jim for all the care and support. Marple will be missed, but the family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace and no longer suffering. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Wednesday at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Interment to follow in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
