BEAVERCREEK — John Jacobs, 86, of Beavercreek, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born July 31, 1927, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Peter and Mary Opre Jacobs. He was a member of the Huber Heights First Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. John enjoyed playing drums in area dance bands, including the Del Raes and the Hal Harris Orchestra. He retired as an accountant with West Carrollton Parchment after 30 years employment. He is survived by his wife, Sue Ann (Beals) Jacobs, whom he married, April 3, 1954, two daughters and a son-in-law, Kyle McKiernan, Beavercreek, and Kathy (Mike) King, Huber Heights, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kevin (Sandi) Jacobs, Xenia, and Kent Jacobs, Dayton, six grandchildren, Josh (Jodi) Jacobs, Wilmington, Angie (Jason) Church, Xenia, Lindsay (Andrew) Dunlap, Baltimore, OH, Jason (Kristie) McKiernan, Beavercreek, Amanda King (fiancé, Aaron), and Josh (Sami) King, all of Huber Heights, seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Irene Jacobs, Dayton, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Julia Jacobs, Mary Perry, and Anna Jacobs, and by two brothers, Peter Jacobs and Michael Jacobs. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Wednesday, April 16, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Services will be held at 10am, Thursday, April 17, at the Huber Heights First Baptist Church, 5875 Shull Rd., with Rev. Robert Hooker officiating.
