John L. "Jack" Huffman

XENIA John L. "Jack" Huffman, 86, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Liberty Nursing Center. He was born April 15, 1927, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Guy Huffman and Reba Siler Huffman Jones. He graduated from Vandalia High School in 1945. He is survived by his wife Mildred I (Hartman) Huffman, a great-nephew Sam, sister-in-law Janet Huffman, several nieces and nephews, including special niece, Sharon (Steve) Cox, and cousins, and many close friends, including special friends, Lou Turner and Bill Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Don Huffman, and by a nephew, Alan Huffman. Jack and Mildred were married for 64 years. They participated in square dancing for 25 years. Jack was a carpenter by trade and retired in 1991. He was an active member of the First Church of Christ in Xenia, where he assisted in the construction of the building. Throughout the years, he built many podiums for the classrooms along with cupboards for classroom supplies as well as numerous other projects. Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 11am, Friday, October 4, 2013, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. R. James "Pete" Creamer officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am Friday until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Beaver Cemetery, Beavercreek.
