Mary Frances (Johnson) Fowler

JAMESTOWN On December 5, 2012 Mary Frances (Johnson) Fowler, age 87 years,10 months, 3 days, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and family and friends that have gone on before. She was a resident of Liberty Nursing Center of Jamestown. Mary was the daughter of Leslie Earl and Goldie Mae (Faulkner) Johnson. She was born February 2, 1925 in Wilmington, Clinton County, Ohio but spent her adult years in the Jamestown, Ohio area. Mary was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved her family more than anything on this earth and loved to cook and bake for them and anyone who came to their home. She also loved to cook and baked for events at her church and at her children's schools. She was also a devoted neighbor and friend to many in this community that she grew to love. She attended Port William School from 1931 thru 1941 when her family moved to Sabina. She graduated from Sabina High School with the class of 1943. During high school she played trumpet with the school's marching band and violin in the school orchestra and worked part time at Foster's Department Store in Sabina as a Sales Clerk. After her graduation from high school she worked full time at Dabe's Implement in Sabina as a bookkeeper. On September 21, 1944 she married Delbert Leroy Fowler and they moved to Jamestown where they set up housekeeping on the Rogers Road. After two more moves, they finally settled on a farm northeast of Jamestown on the Watkins Road in 1949. She lived there until 2010. During their married life she toiled side by side with her husband in the fields and around the farm while raising three children and countless numbers of chickens every year. She was an active member and past President of the Ross Township School PTA, a past member of the Multi Flora Garden Club, a present member of the Port William-Lumberton Senior citizens and present member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church where she has been a member since February 16, 1953. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Fowler, two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger (Susan) Fowler and Tom (Rene) Fowler all of Jamestown, Ohio. Eight grandchildren; Pam(Mark) Gibson and Cheryl (Mark) Earle all of North Carolina, Douglas Heinz of Jamestown, Ohio, Angela Fowler of SC, Christine Neville of Kettering, Ohio, Natalie Fowler (Robert Batchelor) of Columbus, Ohio, Neill Fowler (Leah Coffman) and Nicholas Fowler of Jamestown, Ohio. Eight Great-Grandchildren; Kelly Gibson, Morgan Gibson, Jimmy Sweet, Jr., and Jonathan Sweet all of North Carolina, Megan (Clint) Adams of Xenia, Ohio, Victoria (Nick) Williamson of Columbus, Ohio and Tiffany Neville of Kettering, Ohio and Cheyenne Fowler of Jamestown, Ohio. Eight Great-Great-Grandchildren; Connor, Ryleigh and Jonathan Trogdon of North Carolina, Danika Neville of Jamestown, Ohio, Hannah and Cheyenne Adams of Xenia, Ohio and twin boys, Dominic and Luca Williamson of Columbus, Ohio. Two sisters-in-law, Virginia "Ginny" Fowler of Xenia, Ohio and Ruth Fowler of Jamestown, Ohio as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Littleton Funeral Home, 104 N. Jackson Street, Sabina, Ohio is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in the New Silvercreek Township Cemetery, state Route 72, south of Jamestown, Ohio. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012. Mary was never one to waste or be frivolous with anything and always enjoyed giving a helping hand, and it was her wish that in these tough economic times, in lieu of flowers any memorial gifts be made in her name to the Jamestown United Methodist Church, 22 E. Washington St., Jamestown, Ohio 45335.
