Mervel D. Fannin

FAIRBORN Mervel D. Fannin, age 87 of Fairborn, passed away Thursday January 3, 2013. He was born April 20, 1925 in Morgan Co., Kentucky, the son of the late Cecil and Malissa "Lissie" (Conley) Fannin. Mervel served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed with Carpenters Local No. 104, retiring after over 35 years of service. He attended Faith Hill Church of God and Fairborn Enterprise Baptist Church. Mervel was a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Hutchinson, William Fannin, Harvey "Joe" Fannin; and two sisters, Florence Smith and Inez Jean Harris. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bertha; six children, Lorieda (Carl) Fiffe of Fairborn, Letha Robbins of Fairborn, Mary (Larry) Huttsell of Beavercreek, Gay (Gary) Easterling of Michigan, Phillip (Chelle) Fannin of Fairborn, Debbie Ruiz of Fairborn; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn (Ira) Wash of Kentucky; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 6, 2013 from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Monday January 7, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Tooney Easterling, Brother Dan Smith, and Rev. Gary Easterling officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Byron Cemetery. Condolences may be made to the family at
